Registered Sex Offenders in San Diego County

According to the California Department of Justice, Megan’s Law Database, there are a total of 4,429 sex offenders residing within San Diego County. There are 2,369 sex offenders listed by full address, 844 are listed by zip code only, 1,031 are not posted, 185 have been excluded from being listed on the database, and 490 are listed as transient. †

The database reports there are 2423 white registered offenders, 988 Hispanic registered offenders, and 722 black registered offenders. The remaining 296 offenders are listed as American Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Guamanian, Hawaiian, Japanese, Laotian, Other Asian, Pacific Islander, Samoan, Vietnamese and Other, Unknown. †

In the State of California, State Parole supervises 110,343 active parolees, 8,748 of which are registered sex offenders. The San Diego Probation Department supervises 16,091 adult probationers and 4,778 juvenile probationers, 405 of which are registered sex offenders-397 male, 8 female and 42 transient. ††

The SAFE Task Force works in conjunction with the San Diego County Probation Department and the State Department of Corrections, Parole Division, in conducting warrant less searches (commonly referred to as “probation,” “parole,” or “4th waiver” searches). The use of these searches is a valuable tool in assuring offenders are not violating the law or their conditions of probation/parole, while also serving as a method to confirm registered sex offenders are living at the address they declare with authorities.

In 2010, the SAFE Task Force conducted 66 probation or parole searches of registered sex offenders or probationers/parolees with prior sex offense crimes.
